What's Up Buttercup.

I have recently been lovingly told that my art and most of the things I entangle myself with is all over the place. I can honestly say I can see that to, I do tend to hop jump from one thing to the next, often I am asked what I've doing during the day and I really have to think about it. Not because I'm generally busy with one specific thing so it's easy to pin point what I did but I just think so much. I think my art and all the projects I am currently involving myself in are so vitally important and broad but yet in some strange why they all come together.

I have so many paintings waiting for me, I have this blog, the youtube channel and Facebook page, all in which have their own importance and specific needs. I am designing and working on my own T-shirt collection and I want to design and write my own kids story book soon.

Oh and then I read, and I have my graphic design studies I need to finish within the next month or two.

So yes I know its all over the place, you can see it in my art as well, I don't have a specific niche, I think it's because I do a lot of commission work so it's paintings for family and friends. I know finding a niche will be pivotal to my own art. This will send my work from being average and just another artist into what I believe it can be.

But in all honesty that's why I'm doing what I'm doing, I am enjoying being a bunny brain because this is how I will discover my niche. I'm exploring everything that excites me and peeks my interest and in the end my niche will find it's way. My Barbara art will be discovered and I cannot wait. I also think that this is who I am, I enjoy life and where my life is heading at the moment. So I am embracing the bunny and all that it is.

What's up Buttercup

It's been a rough day today, I did a lot of driving, met some people and now I'm just in bed and getting ready to unwind.

I bought a book, the fundamentals of figure drawing. Reason being that even though I studied art and had done a few nude drawings in the past, I did a drawing just for fun last night and realized I suck.

I had left this part of my muscle  memory unsupervised and now it is a complete mess. Really it's utterly sad.

This was once again a reminder that if you don't use it you lose it. I had in recent months really discovered how much life can carry you away if you're not careful. When I was younger I had it all planned out, was going to work, do graphic design, get married have kids all before 30. I'm 28 and I'm not even close. All my dreams and plans for my art had been placed on hold because I so badly didn't want to disappoint. I wanted to be part of what seemed the natural flow of life.

Only to discover that my art was and had to be so much more then I was allowing. The more I started placing art back into the central part of my being the more caotic I felt and life became. It was like taming a wild beast.
I realised how much I still have to offer my first true love.

That's why this blog is so important because I want to have a platform I can express and share this love.

Rock and Roll Weekend

What's up Buttercup.
This weekend I went to a small local festival in Nelspruit called Woodcrock in a venue called Blue moon. It was my first festival and I truly enjoyed it.

The people were friendly and relaxed and the whole weekend was a blur of color, good food, great music and happy people.
It was a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg. The people in Nelspruit remind me of Port Elizabeth locals. Most are Afrikaans and everyone knows everyone. Even Nelspruit itself have little things here an there that remind me of Port Elizabeth. It's the feeling of coming home to the family, it's nostalgic and theatrical. There's also this seemingly sleepy atmosphere that's none existent in Johannesburg. Everyone is doing things at there own pace.

Port Elizabeth and Nelspruit locals also carry so much love with them, love that again is like family. If they know you or at least have seen you a few times then you're in but if they don't know you, they have this shield of uncertainty and care. It was really a wonderful experience. Today I'll be investing in find a good organisation in which I can create awareness and bring in funds for a wildlife species in need. it's literally going to be research day!

It's really hard going through the research and to make a decision because I feel all animals need to be protected by the human race. I really want to choose an organisation that can really benefit from some extra awareness created by art.

Even creatures people aren't aware of need to be protected like the Pickersgill's Reed Frog. 

The Pickersgill's Reed Frog is in extreme risk of being extinct and they are critically endangered, this species of frogs are located in the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa. Their habitat is being destroyed by local development and pollution.

This is just one example of an animal that needs our help and I want to do my part.
Will be keeping an update on my choice and series of work so stay tuned.

My name is Barbara, I reside in Johannesburg and I love art, coffee and cats. My friends are my family because they have always been a valuable part of my day to day life. I am the daughter of a single mom who rocks the socks off of anyone. I'm a hopeless romantic by heart with a curious spirit. I have trouble trusting people but this won't hold me back from being a true friend and companion.
I am a Leo, I think knowing someone's star sign can give you a lot of insight however no-one is defined by one thing only. I believe we are a network of many different experiences and stories; and I love stories.

Bunnies follow me, when I say bunnies follow me I don't mean literal bunnies, I mean images of them, I will see them everywhere they go in some form of another. They are my good luck charm when I know I'm heading in the right direction. For example, as I was googling symbols for the word Whimsical I came across an article about the four most whimsical character of books and movies. One of which is Luna Lovegood a personal favorite, I then discovered that her Patronus charm had been a hare. This is just one of many little white rabbit trails I've been led on.

Being curious as I am I often find myself on some investigative mystery with almost anything. I have been known to google everything, so I hope this will make an exciting blogger page for you to enjoy.

I also have a bit of a Social Media obsession and will try almost any app at least once. (So just a side note if you want you can follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and Youtube...Ah and Pinerest)

Oh you'd probably want to know what my blog will be about... Hmmm anything. I mostly wish to share with you my love for art, so those will be our main trail for adventure. But knowing myself, I can assure you that there will be a lot more to look forward to.
